Gotta get away?  Here are just a few of the local attractions, in more-or-less alphabetical order within categories...  There are many more; go on-line and do a little exploring!

Cities and Counties

Arlington County, Virginia Visitor Information.  Yet more information on things to do in Arlington, between the convention and Washington, D.C.!

Baltimore, Maryland. Visitor information.

Fairfax County Convention and Visitor's Bureau.  Visitor information.

Loudoun County, Virginia. Visitor information.

Prince William County, Virginia. Visitor information.

Washington, D.C. Visitor Information Center. Has information on places to see and things to do in Washington, D.C.

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.  Information on using the Washington Metro train and subway system to get around the Washington, D.C. area.  The best way to travel! 

Museums and Historic Places

Manassas National Battlefield Park.  Information about the famous battlefield and park, just a short drive from the convention!

Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens.  Visitor information for George Washington's famous estate.

National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center.  Information on the Center, out by Dulles International Airport (nearby the convention site!)

Port Discovery.  A kid-powered children's museum located near Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

Smithsonian Museum.  Information on all the Smithsonian Institution exhibits in and around Washington, D.C.

Tours

Historic Tours of America.  Information on trolley tours in and around the Washington, D.C. area.

Tourmobile Sightseeing Tours.  Information on Tourmobile tours in and around the Washington, D.C. area.

Malls

Fair Oaks Mall.  Fair Oaks is the closest BIG mall to the Dulles Expo Center!

Manassas Mall.  This engaging mall's in Manassas, Virginia, just down the road from the convention!

Potomac Mills.  This is a renowned mall just down I-95 from Washington, D.C.

Reston Town Center.  This upscale shopping area in Reston, Virginia, is just up the road from the convention!

Springfield Mall.  Yet another fine mall, in Springfield, Virginia.

Tysons Corrner Center.  Tysons is a bit further away (but still nearby!) but makes up for this by being even bigger!

Amusement Parks

Paramount King's Dominion.  Immense amusement park located between Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Virginia.

Six Flags America.  Immense amusement park with 8 roller coasters, 27 water slides, 12 children's rides and 5 live shows, all on the Washington Beltway!

...and last, but not least, the Dulles Expo Center homepage, where the convention is!
