Another great Show for NVNTRAK at the Alexandria Red Cross Waterfront Festival… The weather was great all weekend long, and so was the public attendance, with throngs mobbing the layout non-stop! This year the club had a good-sized layout – 15 by 20 feet - with 10 members bringing out their modules and numerous other members coming out to help with the setup & tear down of the layout or simply to visit. As a result, we were able to run trains for 13 hours on Saturday and 9 hours on Sunday! Dave Freshwater brought his VCR and kept it running non-stop showing OL videotapes to the public and he also passed out innumerable hand-outs to anybody who came near, to remind the public of their role in railroad crossing safety… There was a lot to see all day around the park, good food, and great fireworks Saturday night. The Red Cross staff loved the layout and want us back next year. Look below for a layout plan, along with the names of the people who brought modules. I would like to thank everybody who came out, either to run trains or just to “hang out” – we had a great time and your participation is why… It’s not too early to start planning to attend the 2002 Alexandria Red Cross Waterfront Festival! As you can see, this was a sunny, festive affair - some members even had time to lounge! Pics thanks to Dave Freshwater... Following is the sign-up sheet from this festival; a gallery will be added as pictures become available!
